Predoctoral Exam

September 11, 2011

I received word that I should be able to take my predoctoral exam less than two weeks from now (finally!). This is possibly the last academic examination I’ll ever take. Essentially, I’m going to be giving an oral presentation about my Ph.D. thesis research to a panel of judges, and they will evaluate whether or not it seems like a sensible project for me to work on for the last three years of my degree. I’m fairly confident, but still a little anxious. Fortunately, it will all be over soon!

For those who might be interested in hearing more about Tachyon and my research, I’ve had to submit a written report to the predoctoral committee judges as part of the examination process. I’m making this report available for download.
